Robert & Virginia Warfield Polychrome Hand Carved Wooden Sulphur Crested Cockato

A beautifully detailed polychrome hand carved life size sulphur crested cockatoo by well known New Hampshire artists Robert & Virginia Warfield. Since 1960, the couple had moved to Jaffrey Center, New Hampshire after running a craft shop in Littleton, MA, and focused on carving “Warfield birds” and other animals - as a team, Robert would carve, and Virginia would paint. They have shipped over 7,000 birds to over 44 states and 8 foreign countries, with their works being widely displayed in some of the foremost wildlife art galleries in the country. Robert passed in 1990, and Virginia in 2004. This wonderful cockatoo is in very good condition,, mounted on a branch and signed on base “Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, life size, Robert Warfield, Virginia Warfield, Jaffrey, NH,1980” with a few minor water spots on the round base.
