    Description

Offered for sale is a clear SATIN FROSTED glass figurine of a swooping BIRD IN FLIGHT made by L.E. Smith.  The forked tail suggests it's a swallow or thrush.  The textured base is hollow but the bird itself is solid and quite heavy.  This figurine is Smith's item no. 4401.
The bird stands 8 3/4 inches (22.2cm) tall to the tip of the tail, and the base measures 4 1/4 inches (10.8cm) long. A U.S. quarter is shown in the third picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance.  The seventh picture shows this figurine with the matching glossy-finished one, available in a separate listing.
It is in USED condition.  There are no cracks or scratches, but the leading edge of the bird's left wing has one tiny flea-bite chip (picture 6). It's not immediately obvious unless examined closely.
